Hwang Seok Jung memulai debutnya di tahun 2001 dengan membintangi film berjudul Take Care of My Cat. Two Outs in the Ninth Inning menjadi drama pertama yang dibintangi Hwang Seok Jung, dalam drama yang tayang pada 14 Juli 2007 ini dia berperan sebagai Jang Ju Ja. 

Di tahun 2015, Hwang Seok Jung memerankan karakter Kim Rara yang merupakan seorang presiden restoran daging dalam drama She Was Pretty. Peran tersebut berhasil membawanya memenangkan penghargaan dalam acara 34th MBC Drama Awards, dengan kategori Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries. Hwang Seok Jung juga tampil di episode ke dua drama Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, dengan memerankan karakter Choi Seung Ja.
