Suplemen alami ini berasal dari daun, biji, dan buah semak yang disebut tanaman buckthorn laut. Berkat kandungan asam lemaknya, minyak ini dapat membantu mencegah kulit kehilangan air sekaligus memperkuat penghalang (barrier) kulit.
Karena kekeringan vagina dapat berasal dari penipisan lendir vagina, sebuah penelitian kecil menyelidiki apakah minyak buckthorn laut oral dapat membantu "integritas mukosa."
Peserta yang mengonsumsi 3 gram minyak buckthorn laut setiap hari selama tiga bulan memiliki "kecenderungan peningkatan" kualitas lendir dibandingkan dengan kelompok plasebo.
Akan tetapi, mengingat ini adalah penelitian berskala kecil, penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan.
Ada beberapa vitamin dan suplemen untuk membantu meningkatkan lubrikasi vagina. Kekeringan vagina dapat memengaruhi perempuan usia berapa pun, tetapi sangat umum saat menopause.
