Anak kecil yang didiagnosis autisme mungkin memiliki minat yang kuat pada objek atau mainan tertentu, misalnya selalu bermain dengan mobil atau boneka. Mereka juga menunjukkan perilaku berulang, misalnya melepas dan memasang pakaian boneka berulang kali.
Anak dengan autisme juga berinteraksi dengan mainan dan benda dengan cara yang tidak terduga, seperti menyusun benda atau menumpuk mainan. Mereka juga sangat tertarik pada aktivitas tertentu dan merasa kesal jika mereka tidak dapat melakukan aktivitas tersebut.
Autisme adalah suatu kondisi perkembangan, dan ada kemungkinan bayi memiliki autisme. Makin cepat autisme ditangani, maka makin cepat anak menerima dukungan yang diperlukan. Siapa pun yang melihat tanda autisme pada bayi yang dirawatnya harus berkonsultasi dengan dokter anak.
