Secara makna, "if this is the las time" menggambarkan rasa takut kehilangan orang-orang terdekat, terutama orangtua. Paul Klein, vokalis sekaligus gitaris LANY, menekankan betapa pentingnya menghargai waktu bersama keluarga dalam lagu ini. Liriknya seperti surat cinta dan ucapan terima kasih yang sederhana, tapi mengena, sehingga banyak pendengar yang merasa tersentuh.

Lagu berdurasi 3 menit 23 detik ini juga punya gaya musik pop yang lembut dengan sentuhan emosional khas LANY. Gak heran jika lagu yang ditulis Jordan Reynolds, Sasha Alex Sloan, Dan Smyers, Jake Goss, Les Priest, dan Paul Klein ini sering dianggap sebagai salah satu karya LANY yang paling personal.

Lagu "if this is the las time" lahir di tengah pandemik COVID-19, ketika semua orang dalam kondisi penuh tekanan. Gak heran jika maknanya begitu dalam dan menjadi penghormatan sang vokalis, Paul Klein, kepada orangtuanya. “Saya mulai menulis ‘if this is the last time’ pada akhir 2019,” ujar Klein dilansir variance magazine.

Dalam wawancara tersebut, Klein juga bercerita bahwa lagu ini awalnya terinspirasi dari kenyataan bahwa orangtuanya gak akan selalu ada di sampingnya. Bagi vokalis kelahiran 30 April 1988 ini, bisa mengangkat telepon atau menelepon ibunya menjadi kemewahan yang ia miliki. Apalagi memasuki 2020, semua orang termasuk dirinya harus melewati pandemik global dan berhadapan dengan kenyataan baru.

"Saya merasa menyelesaikan dan merilis lagu ini menjadi suatu keharusan, karena mungkin lagu ini adalah lagu yang dibutuhkan dunia," imbuh Klein. Hingga akhirnya, "if this is the las time" menjadi pelengkap yang sempurna di album ketiga LANY.

Selain "if this is the las time", masih banyak lagu dengan makna yang mengena dari LANY. Terutama dalam album Mama's Boy, yang terlahir di era pandemik COVID-19. Begitu membekas di hati pendengar setianya, lagu "if this is the last time" sering diminta untuk dibawakan oleh grup musik satu ini di konser mereka, lho!
