Lagu ini berbicara tentang hubungan toksik yang sulit diakhiri oleh kedua belah pihak. Istilah "Love Hangover" di judulnya menggambarkan efek samping emosional setelah kembali menjalin hubungan dengan mantan yang harusnya ditinggalkan.

Walau hubungan itu menyenangkan, tak bisa dimungkiri, muncul rasa bersalah kepada diri sendiri. Persis seperti orang yang minum minuman beralkohol dalam jumlah banyak. Ia tahu itu buruk, tapi tetap melakukannya lagi dan lagi. 

Hubungan tidak sehat di lagu "Love Hangover" sulit diputuskan karena muncul ketergantungan emosional. Siklus tarik ulur yang terus dilakukan kedua belah pihak membuat mereka seperti "dimabuk cinta," menyesal setelahnya, tapi tetap mengulanginya lagi. 

MV "Love Hangover" dikemas dengan storyline yang menarik. Di awal, Jennie digambarkan sudah meninggal dunia dan berada di peti mati. Sang kekasih yang diperankan oleh aktor Charles Melton kemudian mengenang masa-masa indahnya bersama Jennie. 

Adegan selanjutnya memutarkan serangkaian kejadian yang akhirnya merenggut nyawa Jennie. Namun, tidak secara mengerikan, MV "Love Hangover" mengemasnya dengan sentuhan komedi.
