Tato temporer, terutama henna hitam, bisa memicu dermatitis kontak (iritasi kulit) karena mengandung para-phenylenediamine (PPD). Bahan ini sebenarnya disetujui untuk cat rambut, tetapi tidak aman untuk langsung diaplikasikan ke kulit.
Paparan PPD bisa memicu alergi berat, memudarkan warna kulit (hipopigmentasi) pada anak, atau menimbulkan noda gelap permanen pada orang dewasa. Jika terkena lagi di masa depan, risikonya bisa lebih parah: reaksi alergi berat hingga anafilaksis yang bisa mengancam nyawa. Karena itulah, Eropa melarang PPD dipakai langsung di kulit, alis, atau bulu mata.
Label “alami” juga bukan jaminan. Misalnya propolis banyak dipakai dalam produk skincare alami, padahal bisa memicu dermatitis kontak pada 16 persen anak.
Kulit bayi dan balita bukanlah versi mini kulit orang dewasa. Lapisan pelindungnya masih rapuh, lebih gampang iritasi, dan bahan kimia yang menembus kulit bisa berdampak ke seluruh tubuh.
Ruam, gatal, kulit bersisik hingga bernanah bisa jadi sinyal bahaya. Jika muncul batuk atau sesak napas, segera konsultasi ke dokter.
Saat ragu, prinsipnya sederhana: seminimal mungkin. Batasi produk yang dioles ke kulit anak, terutama pada tahun-tahun pertama kehidupannya.
