"Ketika saya mendengarkan "Backseat," saya teringat hari-hari ketika keluarga kami berkendara ke Newcastle, saya dan saudara perempuan saya duduk di kursi belakang, jendela terbuka, mendengarkan The Beach Boys. Dengan angin yang menerpa rambut kami, kami merasa begitu bebas dan hidup. Saya ingin mereplikasi perasaan yang sama dalam lagu ini," kata Olivia.
