Berdasarkan keterangan dari tim produksi, "Close to You" merupakan lagu ballad romantis yang menceritakan perasaan jatuh cinta secara sentimental. Saking kuatnya, rasa suka tersebut seperti cahaya bintang yang bisa menerangi seluruh angkasa. 

Bukan hanya itu, lirik "Close to You" juga menggambarkan keteguhan hati untuk terus mengejar orang yang disukai. Walaupun sosok tersebut berada dalam jarak yang jauh, ia tidak pernah lelah untuk memperjuangkannya. 

Ternyata, bukan hanya Jin yang terlibat dalam mengisi soundtrack When the Stars Gossip. Drama produksi tvN tersebut telah mengumumkan lineup penyanyi yang ikut menyumbangkan suara mereka. Bahkan daftarnya bertabur bintang, lho. Di antaranya ada Jin BTS, Seungkwan SEVENTEEN, Suhyun AKMU, hingga BIG Naughty. 

Sementara itu, "Close to You" merupakan OST ketiga yang dinyanyikan oleh Jin. Sebelumnya, ia pernah mengisi soundtrack Hwarang (2016) bersama rekannya, V. Kemudian, ia juga menyumbangkan vokal untuk Jirisan (2021) dengan lagu "Yours".
