Lagu "toxic till the end" ditulis Rosé berdasarkan pada pengalaman pribadinya di umur dua puluhan. Liriknya menceritakan tentang terjebak dalam hubungan asmara yang tidak sehat atau toxic dan manipulatif yang relate dengan kehidupan anak muda zaman sekarang.

Melalui lagu "toxic till the end", member BLACKPINK tersebut menggambarkan bagaimana ia mengenali tanda-tanda bahaya, termasuk kecemburuan dan posesif, namun masih terus kembali kepada orang tersebut, bahkan setelah mengklaim semuanya sudah berakhir.
