Segera cari bantuan medis jika nyeri sangat berat, otot bengkak, tubuh terasa sangat lemah, sulit berjalan, demam, mual, atau urine berwarna gelap seperti teh atau cola. Kombinasi nyeri otot berat dan urine gelap bisa mengarah ke rhabdomyolysis, yaitu kerusakan otot berat yang dapat membebani ginjal.
Waspada juga jika nyeri tidak membaik setelah 7 hari, makin parah, hanya terasa di satu sisi, disertai memar luas, mati rasa, kesemutan, nyeri sendi, atau membuat kamu tidak bisa melakukan aktivitas harian.
Kesimpulannya, DOMS sampai 5 hari masih bisa normal jika pelan-pelan membaik. Namun, rasa sakit bukan ukuran keberhasilan olahraga. Latihan yang baik adalah latihan yang bisa kamu lanjutkan secara konsisten, bukan yang membuatmu badanmu sakit sampai berhari-hari.
