Bukti yang ada menunjukkan dua arah masalah, yaitu dukungan yang kurang dapat meningkatkan gerakan dan nyeri payudara, sedangkan underband yang terlalu ketat dapat membebani mekanika pernapasan.
Di antara keduanya, sports bra dengan tingkat dukungan yang sesuai dan ukuran yang tepat dapat membantu memperbaiki kenyamanan dan mungkin efisiensi berlari.
Namun, penelitian sports bra dan performa masih relatif kecil. Sebagian besar studi dilakukan pada perempuan muda, terutama dari populasi Barat, sehingga hasilnya belum mewakili seluruh bentuk tubuh dan kelompok usia.
Jika nyeri hanya muncul ketika berlari dan berkurang setelah mengganti sports bra, mungkin pilihan bra kamu sudah tepat. Namun, nyeri payudara yang menetap, ada benjolan baru, perubahan bentuk atau kulit payudara, keluar cairan dari puting, atau area payudara merah, panas, dan bengkak perlu diperiksakan ke dokter.
