Latihan kaki tidak menggantikan latihan tubuh bagian atas maupun aktivitas aerobik. Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) tetap menganjurkan orang dewasa melakukan 150–300 menit aktivitas aerobik intensitas sedang atau 75–150 menit aktivitas berat per minggu, ditambah latihan penguatan seluruh kelompok otot utama setidaknya dua hari per minggu.
Pria yang hanya memiliki waktu berlatih dua kali seminggu tidak wajib membuat satu hari khusus untuk kaki. Program full body dua kali seminggu yang mencakup squat atau lunge, hip hinge, gerakan mendorong, menarik, dan latihan inti sudah dapat melatih seluruh tubuh dengan lebih efisien.
